Supply Preaching — Filling the Gap

Filling the Gap

Every Sunday, churches across the country face an empty pulpit — a pastor is sick, traveling, or on sabbatical. Supply Preaching exists to bridge that gap, connecting churches with qualified preachers and equipping those who step in to preach with confidence and preparation.

Who This Is For

  • Pastors who need practical guidance when filling a pulpit on short notice
  • Elders and deacons called to preach in their pastor’s absence
  • Lay preachers growing in their gift and looking for structured resources
  • Church administrators coordinating guest speakers and supply preachers

What We Offer

Through articles, guides, and curated resources, Supply Preaching helps you show up prepared — theologically grounded, pastorally sensitive, and practically equipped. We write about sermon preparation, preaching styles, working with unfamiliar congregations, and the heart posture of the supply preacher.

The Name

“Supply preaching” is the historic term for the practice of a visiting or temporary preacher supplying a church’s pulpit. It’s a quiet, faithful ministry — one that rarely gets recognition but keeps the Word going out week after week. We think that deserves a home.
